The devastation in NYC today caused by Hurricane Ida reminded us of New Directions Development Corporation- a charity founded and overseen by the current Chairman of the House Foreign Relations Committee Gregory Meeks (D) NY-5. What we found was a group of pols, led by Meeks, who were essentially shaking down corporations for large donations that were promised for Hurricane Katrina victims that never made it to anyone but people personally connected to the charity.
Federal law enforcement filed subpoenas against Congressman Meeks and an investigation led to the discovery of a “loan” the Congressman received from a convicted mortgage fraud felon named Edul Ahmad.
