Re: Public Review Board
of HEREIU
Dear Mr. Boehm:
The Public Review Board of HEREIU has forwarded to me, as its counsel, your August 30, 1999 letter to Board member Kurt Muellenberg requesting that the Board investigate certain recent actions and involvement of HEREIU General President John Wilhelm, HEREIU General Secretary-Treasurer Ted Hansen, and HEREIU General Counsel Robert Rotatori in implementing the recommendations of the Monitor’s August 1998 report to Judge Garret Brown in the U.S. v. HEREIU action.
The Public Review Board appreciates your interest in promoting union democracy within HEREIU and its constituent locals. The Board shares that interest, and recognizes that effective leadership that has the trust and confidence of union members is a crucial factor in ensuring those members that their international and local unions are operated fairly, openly and for their benefit.
The Board appreciates your sharing with it the information described in your letter, which it will consider in determining how best to enforce terms of the HEREIU Ethical Practices Code.
Very truly yours,
Kenneth P. Purcell
