Las Vegas Boss Charged with $24,900 Embezzlement
David Manes, ex-business representative of the United Steelworkers of Am. Local 711-A in Las Vegas, was indicted Aug. 29 on 153 counts of embezzling a total of $24,923.42 in union funds. Twenty counts involved unauthorized salary, 119 counts involved personal purchases on the union's credit card and other accounts, and 14 counts involved use of union funds for personal debts.
