KENNETH STARR INDUCTED INTO ETHICS HALL OF FAME
Independent Prosecutor Resists “Unprecedented Campaign of Intimidation”
(Washington, DC) - Today the National Legal and Policy Center inducted Independent Prosecutor Kenneth Starr to its Hall of Fame.  NLPC President Peter Flaherty issued the following statement:

“We honor Kenneth Starr not only for his effectiveness as an investigator, but also for the difficult circumstances under which he has had to operate. The unprecedented campaign of intimidation conducted by the President and his operatives is a threat to the the rule of law.”

“Every day the President has the opportunity to use the bully pulpit for good. Instead, Clinton uses it to bully. If Clinton believes that Starr has misused his office, he has the Constitutional authority, and responsibility, to remove him. His failure to do so is implicit acknowledgement that Starr has acted properly.”

“There is a bigger issue than whether Clinton should remain President or not. It is whether the enforcement of the law can be thwarted by determined and corrupt public officials. By inducting Starr into the NLPC Hall of Fame, we make a stand for the rule of law.”

NLPC will seek to make a formal presentation to Ken Starr after his investigations have been completed.

Peter Flaherty is co-author of The First Lady: A Comprehensive View of Hillary Rodham Clinton, published in 1996 by Vital Issues Press. Flaherty is President of the National Legal and Policy Center, which successfully sued to open the meetings and records of the First Lady’s health care task force.

NLPC promotes ethics and accountability in government through distribution of the “Code of Ethics for Government Service,” and through research, education and legal action.
