STATEMENT  ON FINANCIAL AFFAIRS OF THE TEAMSTERS

Carey Style Corruption Criticized

WASHINGTON, D.C. --National Legal and Policy Center Chairman Ken Boehm had the following statement regarding today's meeting of the House Education and Workforce Committee on the financial affairs of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.

"The Teamsters financial troubles stem from their excess spending on partisan politics.  The Teamsters should get out of partisan politics and adhere to a mission of protecting their workers interest."

"It is a disgrace that the Teamsters have been playing politics while the interest of their workers goes down the drain."

"Ron Carey and his scandal-ridden Teamsters administration are an embarrassment to union democracy.  Innocent, rank-and-file Teamsters deserve an election free from Carey-style corruption.
