On March 2, Kenneth L. Holman, former secretary-treasurer of Retail, Wholesale Department Store Union Local 665, was sentenced in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan to pay nearly $2,800 in restitution plus a $25 assessment for making a false statement or representation of material fact on the union's annual financial report to the U.S. Department of Labor. He was charged last December following an investigation by the DOL's Office of Labor-Management Standards, and pleaded guilty on February 12. The union is based in Ishpeming, in the state's Upper Peninsula. (OLMS, 3/23/09).
